CU VISUAL ARTS CENTER
Architecture and Interior Design
Architectural and interior design for the new arts center at CU Boulder.
With OZ Architecture, Kallmann, McKinnell and White
There’s an echo of the unmistakable architectural style of the historic University of Colorado campus in a fresh interpretation mirroring the creative identity of the new CU Visual Arts Complex. The LEED Gold certified home for the Department of Art and Art History, together with the University Art Museum, is a gem of creative identity within CU’s established style. Functionality meets imagination in a variety of studio spaces, ranging from welding to ceramics to painting, and the Arts Complex features exhibition galleries as well as storage areas designed to Smithsonian lending standards. The design, construction, and outfitting of this new facility focuses on the visual arts, with multi-media displays sprinkled throughout classrooms and lobbies, and site-specific sculpture commissions.
